Process

Each Poppi Lane painting begins with a set of fixed parameters—format, palette, and compositional rules—that guide the work from start to finish. Forms are sketched, refined, and simplified before color is applied in flat, deliberate layers on Ampersand panels. Throughout the process, decisions are governed by repetition and constraint, allowing small shifts in proportion, pattern, and line to carry meaning within a consistent visual system.
